Shade Valley Camp Resort is located about 8 miles east of downtown Sturgis on Highway 34 and provides camping and lodging for riders attending the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally.
The campground offers RV sites, tent camping and cabin rentals. RV options include full-hookup sites as well as sites with limited or no hookups. During the rally, Shade Valley also has live entertainment and the Eye Candy Saloon, giving riders something to do at night without having to leave the campground.
We’ve personally stayed at Shade Valley in a fifth wheel with friends during the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally. One of the things we liked most was the location. We were close enough to downtown Sturgis that going back and forth didn’t feel like a major ride, especially compared with times we’ve stayed farther into the Black Hills.
We also appreciated having a flat camping area and entertainment right at the campground. When we stayed, it was actually quieter than we expected for a campground catering to the Sturgis crowd.
If you’re planning a trip to the rally, Shade Valley is one of several options worth considering if you want to camp close to Sturgis while still having entertainment and amenities available at the campground.
